FAQs

Where is Southwest Hacks happening?

The event will be at the Tempe campus of Arizona State University at the Memorial Union building.

What do I build?

Anything your heart desires! You could build an iPhone application, a troupe of acrobatic drones, or Skynet!

How much does this event cost?

It's free! Hackerspace and meals are provided at no cost to you!

Who is allowed to come to the event?

Any student 18 or older.

What is the maximum team size?

A team may consist of up to four people.

I am a beginner. Should I participate?

Of course! Hackathons are some of the most rapid learning experiences you could hope for. Even if you are new to something, there are a host of hackers who are in the same boat, and experienced hackers who are ready to give you a boost!

What if I don't have a team?

We will be running team formation and ideation workshops at the beginning of the event to help you find others to work with.

What should I bring?

A laptop computer, charger, and basic amenities such as a sleeping bag, pillow, and toothbrush and any other hacking supplies you need!

Does SWHacks offer travel reimbursements?

We would love to, but we do not have a budget for travel reimbursements this year. We will try to offer them next time!
