Hackathon Rules & Code of Conduct

1. All participants must register for the hackathon via the registration site here: https://connectedcarhackathon.eventbrite.com

2. By registering for the hackathon, participants are agreeing to abide by this Code of Conduct summed up as: Be kind (not a jerk). Follow this, and you'll be fine. Respect your fellow hackers, our staff, our judges and everyone else. Our hackathon is meant to be a collaborative, supportive, environment in which everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, and has a positive experience.

The slightly longer version: Our hackathon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, previous hack attendance or computing experience (or lack of any of the aforementioned). We do not tolerate harassment of hackathon participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any hackathon venue, including hacks, talks, workshops, parties, social media and other online media. Hackathon participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the hackathon without a refund (if applicable) at the discretion of the hackathon organizers.

3. Intellectual property rights: you own your project. The event organizers and sponsors have the right to mention and link to your project in order to promote the event, its results and their participation. Respect others' intellectual property. Whether that is sponsor data and assets that have been made available solely for the hackathon, or copyrighted images and other content. Usage of sponsors’ APIs, platforms and technology is subject to their licensing agreements.

4. The project you submit must be your own work, created by yourself and/or your team onsite at the hackathon. You need to be the creator, and you need to ensure your project does not infringe on the rights of any third party. It's fine if your project isn't 100% new, but keep in mind that projects that haven't been updated significantly during the course of the hackathon won't score very well with the judges. Don't create and/or submit projects that are illegal, profane, obscene or otherwise not very nice.

5. You can form a team if you wish, either ahead of time or on site. Developer teams can be registered as a company or individuals. Individuals can join and form teams onsite. There is no maximum team size but we recommend working in groups of 6 or smaller. Your entire team must be on-site at the event -- no sending work to external teams or outside developers.

6. Each app/solution will be given a set amount of time to demo in front of the judges and the audience (this number may vary based on the total number of demos). A list showing the order of demos will be posted, and each team must be ready to demo when it is their turn. If the team is not present or not ready, they will be disqualified. Judging will be based on several elements: Originality of the Idea, User Interface, Overall Quality and Pitch Quality. Judges’ decisions for the winners are final, and sponsors have the final decision on winners of their own categories.

7. To be eligible for the cash prizes, submissions must incorporate technologies from the Mojio platform. Other sponsors and API/SDK/tech providers may have other requirements for their own prizes, which will be communicated at the hackathon.

8. Please do not submit malicious, illegal, explicit or otherwise inappropriate projects. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any projects and participants from the competition.

9. All apps may be subject to code review and examination.

10. No slideware – you need to code something. You can create new projects from scratch, or add new features to existing projects, but you need to create and code something during the hackathon! Have fun!
