Rules

  • This is a team participation hackathon. You can have at most 4 members in your team.

  • You can either invite your friends to form a team or you can request other teams to add you as a member.

  • There are three rounds for the process namely; Round 1- Idea submission round on HackerEarth platform ; Round 2 : Hackathon @GE Campus ; Round 3 : Solution realization and Grand Finale for the shortlisted three teams.

  • There are various problem statements for the GE HealthHack. For the idea submission phase from 28-12-2016 till 29-1-2017, you must submit an idea from one of these Problem Statements.

  • Shortlisted candidates after Idea Submission phase will be invited over email and telephone for the offline hackathon at the GE Campus on 11-12 Feb 2017.

  • The hackathon @GE Campus (Round 2) will start at 11-02-2017 09:00 AM and end at 12-02-2017 03:00 PM. You work on your hack during the allotted time only.

  • The hackathon @GE Campus (Round 2) is happening at GE India, John F. Welch Technology Centre, Plot #122, Export Promotion Industrial Park, Phase 2, Hoodi Village, Whitefield, Bengaluru, 560066.

  • The Round 3 (Solution Realization and Grand finale) includes the mentoring of the top 3 shortlisted teams by GE from the Round 2 ( Hackathon @GE) and ends on the 8th April 2017.

  • Submission must include:
    Idea submission round:- Submit the idea to the promoter through the HackerEarth portal
    Hackathon @GE:- Demo the prototype, Submit the source code, other binaries and all other artifacts to use the code and binary to the promoter.
    Solution Realization and Grand Finale :- Demo the realized solution, Submit the source code, other binaries and all other artifacts to use the code and binary to the promoter.

  • You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas, any idea that has been copied from somewhere will be disqualified.

GE “HealthHack” Contest Terms and Conditions of Entry

1.PROMOTER
The Promoter of this HealthHack (“GE HealthHack”) is "Wipro GE Healthcare Private Limited” having its office at No. 4 Kadugodi Industrial Area, Bangalore 560067 (“WGE”). For the purposes of this GE HealthHack, WGE has partnered with HackerEarth having its office at Address: Ground Floor, Salarpuria Business Center, 4th B Cross Road, 5th A Block, Koramangala Industrial Layout, Bangalore, Karnataka 560095, India (“HackerEarth”) for the purposes of hosting the GE HealthHack, receiving applications and such other matters that may be necessary for successfully organizing the GE HealthHack.

2. HACKATHON LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
i) The GE HealthHack includes in-person event and offline event.
ii) The GE HealthHack commences on 28th December 2016. iii) All submissions for the GE HealthHack be received by 29th January 2017. Any submissions submitted after this time will not be considered and there will be no exceptions.
Followed by the announcement of shortlisted entries and three winners in next 7 days.
In-person event at GE Healthcare India facility at Bangalore from 11th February- 12th February 2017.
Offline event with mentoring by GE Healthcare on 8th April followed by announcement of final winner.

3. HACKATHON PROBLEM STATEMENTS (HIGH LEVEL)

Problem Statement 1: Video Content Analytics (VCA)
VCA (Video content analysis) is the capability of automatically analyzing video to detect and determine temporal and spatial events. This project requires development of VCA algorithm which can be integrated with our existing Tele-ICU solutions.

Problem Statement 2: Contextual Care Protocol
Lack of access to quality clinical care close to the patient’s homes is the major cause for medical problems being detected late and having bad clinical outcomes. This is true for maternal care as well. This project aims to model a standardized care protocol as a decision tree/forest or neural net, to guide the clinical personnel in the Primary Health Centers across India, on the decision process.

Problem Statement 3: Contextual Training Platform
This platform intends to help healthcare providers with context specific, on the job training to upskill their expertise on relevant disease patterns thus enabling them to provide quality care to patients on time.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION
Participation in the GE HealthHack is subject to all national, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. You are responsible for checking applicable laws and regulations before participating in the GE HealthHack to make sure that Your participation is legal. You are responsible for abiding by your employer's policies regarding participation in the GE HealthHack and ensuring that your Submission (as defined below) does not violate any policies set by Your company/employer. You are further responsible for ensuring that your participation in the GE HealthHack and your Submission does not violate any contractual obligations or other legal obligation You may have regarding confidentiality or intellectual property ownership to your company/employer. Promoter disclaims any and all liability or responsibility for disputes arising between You and Your employer related to the GE HealthHack. You are responsible for all taxes and reporting related to any award that you may receive as part of the GE HealthHack. You may be subject to background screening as needed to assure Promoters’ legal compliance.

5. ELIGIBILTY
Important note on WGE employee participation
Full-time employees of WGE and any of their respective affiliates or subsidiaries may enter the GE HealthHack, provided that, such participants are prohibited from using GE confidential information in their Submission, including information that is the subject of any pending GE patent application or any other technical or business information concerning any GE technology, product or service that GE does not publicly disclose. In addition, such employees should execute a declaration to this effect prior to their entry to the GE HealthHack. WGE employees that have any questions regarding complying with their GE confidentiality obligations should contact Krishna Singhania, Senior Counsel Intellectual Property GEHC South Asia (krishna.singhania@ge.com).

The GE HealthHack is open to eligible individuals over the age of 18 residing and having a permanent address in India only.

Eligible individuals may enter only one Submission to the GE HealthHack. If an individual or Team submits more than one Submission, the last Submission will only be considered by the Promoter. An eligible individual may join only one Team and an Eligible Individual who is part of a Team may not enter the GE HealthHack on an individual basis.

If a Team is entering the GE HealthHack, they must appoint and authorize one individual (the “Representative”) to represent, act, and enter a Submission, on their behalf. The Representative must meet the eligibility requirements above. By entering a Submission on the Site on behalf of a Team you represent and warrant that you are the Representative authorized to act on behalf of your Team.

Additionally, the following constituents are not eligible to enter
Individuals or employees of companies or their affiliates or subsidiary and partners providing services to Promoter during the GE HealthHack period and their immediate family members or persons living in their same household, and not eligible to participate in the GE HealthHack.

6. HOW TO ENTER THE HACKATHON
Register for the GE HealthHack on the GE HealthHack Website by clicking the “Register for GE HealthHack” button. At the GE HealthHack Website, You will find instructions for submitting your entry. You must submit your completed entry (your “Entry” or Submission”) following the instructions provided. By submitting your Entry, you formally accept the terms and conditions of the GE HealthHack.

You may enter the GE HealthHack by submitting Your completed entry under any of the problem statements along with registering and submitting forms with your personal details (“Personal Details”), only during the GE HealthHack period between 30 July 2016 and 07 August 2016 (India time).

In order to be eligible for the GE HealthHack, the Submission must be received by the HackerEarth no later than 29th January 2017 (11:55 PM India time) on the last day of the GE HealthHack. For the avoidance of doubt, Submissions will be deemed to have been received by the Promoter when accepted by HackerEarth's web server or system host.

You must submit Your Submissions in accordance with the GE HealthHack problem statements.

The Submissions must be submitted through the campaign website. The Promoter or HackerEarth reserves the right to disqualify any submissions that do not comply with the specifications stipulated in the GE HealthHack site https://www.hackerearth.com/sprints/ge-healthhack-creating-a-smarter-healthier-india/description/

By making a Submission, you agree that (a) Your Accounts are complete, correct and accurate and (b) Your registration may be rejected or terminated and any Submission submitted by you may be disqualified if any of the information in Your Accounts are (or Promoters have reasonable grounds to believe it is) incomplete, incorrect or inaccurate. You are solely responsible for your Accounts. Registration information is collected by HackerEarth, on behalf of the Promoter, and may be transferred elsewhere globally as needed as permissible by applicable laws.

You are solely responsible for all equipment, as well as all costs incurred by you or on your behalf associated with attending and participating in the GE HealthHack, including but not necessarily limited to, a computer.

BY REGISTERING FOR THE GE HEALTHHACK YOU HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND, AND HEREBY AGREE TO ALL THE TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY OUTLINED HEREIN, INCLUDING ALL AMENDMENTS, ADDITIONS, REPLACEMENTS AND MODIFICATIONS HERETO AS MAY BE MADE FROM TIME TO TIME BY THE PROMOTER.

7. OWENRSHIP AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IN THE SUBMISSION
You hereby represent and warrant that that the Entry: (a) is Your own original work with no other person or entity having any right or interest in it; (b) does not infringe the intellectual property right or any other rights, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, contracts and/or privacy rights of any third party.

You may use open source software provided Your usage complies to the respective open source software license terms.

You hereby assign and transfer and agree to assign and transfer to WGE all rights, title and interests in and to Your Submission and WGE shall have a right to use and exploit the Submission in any desired way, including right to obtain intellectual property protection without any further compensation during and after the GE HealthHack.

You agree in so far as it is permitted by law to waive all moral rights in Your Submission including the right of attribution of authorship.

You agree that nothing in the Terms and Conditions herein grants You a right or license to use any Promoter name, trademark or service mark.

You acknowledge that the Promoter, other Participants’ or others may have developed or commissioned materials similar or identical to Your Submission or may develop something similar in the future, and You waive any claims that You may have resulting from any similarities to Your Submission.

8. PROMOTER MATERIALS
The Promoter retains all right, tittle and interest in all materials provider by Promoter to You as part of the GE HealthHack (“Promoter Materials”). Promoter may suspend or terminate.

The Promoter grants You a limited, personal, non-exclusive license, during the term of the GE HealthHack, to use Promoter Materials, in connection with, the GE HealthHack. You agree not to use the Promoter Materials for any other purpose, including, but not limited to, any commercial product or service offered, leased, rented, sublicensed or sold to third parties or for Your own production use. You shall not use, copy, modify, distribute, transfer, assign, display or otherwise disclose any Promoter Materials, except as expressly authorized by Promoter.

Except for the licenses expressly granted herein, each Party retains all right, title, and interest in all copyrights, patents, patent applications, trademarks, trade secrets, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights owned or controlled by such Party before or during the GE HealthHack. No rights or licenses shall be implied or deemed granted by waiver, estoppel, or otherwise.

9. PRIVACY AND PUBLICITY
HackerEarth collects personal information from you when you enter the GE HealthHack, and may pass that information to its related corporate bodies, partners and agencies assisting with the GE Healthhack, which may be outside India, as permissible by law. Personal data you provide in your Entry in connection with your Entry will be used for purposes described in the terms and conditions set forth herein and used and protected as governed by the Privacy Policy posted on the GE Website at http://www.ge.com/privacy and HackerEarth at https://www.hackerearth.com/privacy/.

By participating in the GE HealthHack you consent to the use of personal information about you. If you are a winner, you consent to the use of your personal information by the Promoter, Promoter’s partners, HackerEarth, and third parties acting on their behalf. Such personal information includes, but is not limited to, your name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions, comments and hometown and country of residence. It may be used in any existing or newly created media, worldwide without further payment or consideration or right of review, unless prohibited by law. Authorized use includes advertising and promotional purposes. The duration of your consent is for a period of three years following the conclusion of the GE HealthHack. This consent applies, as applicable, to all members of a Your Team or Organization that participated in the winning Submission.

MISCELLANEOUS

  1. To the extent permitted by local laws, the GE HealthHack and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of India. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore in the determination of any matter or dispute arising in connection therewith

  2. Late, lost, misdirected, incomplete, illegible or indecipherable entries will not be accepted and no responsibility will be assumed by the Promoter for such entries.

  3. To enter, You must fully complete the online GE HealthHack contest form. You are prohibited from entering personal URLs in Your profile entry to this GE HealthHack contest. If You do not furnish the required details You will be disqualified. You warrant that the information, details and particulars submitted by You are true, accurate and complete. Incorrect or incomplete entries may be disqualified from the GE HealthHack.

  4. You are prohibited from submitting to this GE HealthHack contest, Submission, including but not limited to, any codes, graphics, images or any material for which You are not the sole and rightful owner. In the event that any third party alleges that any such Submission submitted by You infringes the copyright or other proprietary right of such third party, You agree to indemnify the Promoter, its trustees, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all loss, damage, liability and costs resulting therefrom.

  5. All Submission are non-returnable.

  6. Submissions should be made in the following manner :-

    Hackathon @GE:- Demo the prototype, Submit the source code, other binaries and all other artifacts to use the code and binary to the promoter.
    Solution Realization and Grand Finale :- Demo the realized solution, Submit the source code, other binaries and all other artifacts to use the code and binary to the promoter.

  7. You warrant that:
    a) You have not licensed or assigned the copyright and/or any other intellectual property rights in and to the Submission to any third party anywhere in the world. b) You will not upload or otherwise transfer files that contain material protected by intellectual property laws (or by rights of privacy or confidentiality) unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents. c) Your Submission, does not violate or infringe upon any intellectual property rights or any other rights of any third party; d) You will not upload or otherwise transfer files that contain viruses, Trojan horses, worms, backdoors, time bombs, spyware, adware, corrupted files, or any file that may disable, erase, or otherwise damage the operation of another computer. e) You will not provide false or inaccurate information pertaining to the origin or source of materials contained in a file that is uploaded. f) Your Submission does not and will not violate any applicable law, statue, ordinance, rule, regulation, confidentiality agreement or other agreement.

  8. The Promoter is not responsible for any copyright violations and cannot guarantee the legality of Submission, including but not limited to, codes, images or material entered in the GE HealthHack or displayed on its website or online or offline communications.

  9. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any Submission it deems inappropriate and remove the submission from the campaign site.

  10. False and/or deceptive entries or acts shall render Your Submission ineligible.

  11. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter will not be held personally liable for any damages of any kind including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damage arising out of usage of the materials provided by Promoter as part of the GE HealthHack.

  12. The Promoter is not responsible for the license usage of the hardware and software that You use to produce or create the Submission that is submitted.

  13. The GE HealthHack is a game of skill; chance plays no part in the outcome. Eligible Submission will be uploaded to [the campaign website] and will be evaluated and judged by a panel of judges determined by the Promoter. The panel of judges will determine the best Submission per the GE HealthHack problem statements.

  14. The decisions made by the Promoter and/or its appointed judges are final and binding in all manners and no appeals shall be entertained for any reasons whatsoever. The Promoter and/or its appointed judges reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to determine there are no winners or fewer than the maximum number of winners.

  15. The teams shortlisted from the idea submission round shall be notified in 10 (ten) days from the date of closure of the idea submission round on the HackerEarth website and by means of email/call communication.

  16. The top 3 (three) teams from the Hackathon @GE shall be notified after the 24 (twenty- four) hours long Hackathon. The winner of the GE HealthHack will be announced after the Solution Realization and Grand Finale. The Promoter reserves the right to post all winners' and/or shortlisted teams names on the Internet.

  17. Prizes are to be collected as indicated in the notification to winners.

  18. All prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash, and credit, and are subject to any terms and conditions as may be imposed by the prize sponsors. Promoter reserves the right to replace any prize with another of equivalent value without notice. Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize values.

  19. All ancillary costs and expenses, duties, applicable taxes or tax liability incurred by the winner as a result of winning or using the prize are the sole responsibility of the winners. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any taxes (such as income tax) that may arise from the winning of the prize. You should seek an independent financial advice on this regard.

  20. Prizes have to be collected within one (1) month of notification or prizes will be forfeited at the sole discretion of the Promoter. No compensation will be due to a winner who fails to claim the prize within the stipulated time. Collection instructions will be provided in the same notification.

  21. The Promoter makes no warranty, either express or implied, regarding the campaign website or any of its content, including but not limited to, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Promoter does not warrant that the content and delivery of the website shall be free from errors, bugs or viruses, uninterrupted, or repairable if damaged or impaired.

  22. To the extent that Promoter provides You with access to the Promoter Materials, computer networks and facilities, You agree to use such access only for the GE HealthHack and for no other purpose. You agree not to exceed the scope of access authorized by Promoter to computer networks or facilities. You agree to take reasonable precautions to protect any passwords, badges, or other access credentials granted by Promoter, and agree to report any lost or stolen access credentials or security breach to Promoter immediately.

  23. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, (including but not limited to) any injury or damage to You or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation.

  24. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), or for personal injury suffered or sustained, as a result of taking any of the prizes, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

  25. You (including your heirs, executor and/or administrators) hereby agree to fully indemnify and hold the Promoter, HackerEarth and each of the Promoter’s representative offices, authorized agencies and sponsors and the directors, officers, employees, agents and assignees thereof (“the Indemnified Parties”) harmless from and against any and all claims, loss or damage (including but not limited to economic loss, damage to any property or injury to or death of any person and any legal costs) that may be suffered or incurred by any of the Indemnified Parties arising whether directly or indirectly from:

    a) any negligent act or omission or willful default, misconduct or fraud of You. b) any action, claim, loss, damage, cost and expense whatsoever brought against, suffered or incurred arising from or in connection with any breach of the terms and conditions and warranties herein by You.

  26. Notwithstanding anything in these terms and conditions, The Promoter reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion to:

    a) Cancel or modify the GE HealthHack, or any part thereof.
    b) Determine and/or amend, by addition to, deletion from or variation of, these terms and conditions without prior notification, including but not limited to, the eligibility terms and criteria for the campaign and the selection of winners.
    c) Substitute, withdraw or cancel any prize without prior notice and without having to disclose any reason therefor and without any payment or compensation whatsoever.

  27. Neither the Promoter nor the Promoter’s representative offices, authorized agencies or any other associated sponsors or partners associated with the GE HealthHack shall be held liable for any failure or omission to carry out the GE HealthHack in accordance with these terms and conditions or for any loss or damage suffered by You if such failure, omission, loss or damage arises out of or in connection with any event of force majeure, including without limitation any calamity or conditions, acts of God, war or warlike hostilities, civil commotion, riots, blockades, embargoes, sabotages, strikes, fires, lockouts, shortages of material or labour, terrorist activity, epidemic, quarantine restrictions, health risk or any defect, failure, or any other occurrence beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, Promoter's representative offices, authorized agencies and any sponsor associated with the GE HealthHack, as the case may be.
