FAQs

- Do I need to pay any money to register for FaaS Wars?
No. You do not have to pay anything to anyone to register yourself

- Do I need to have any specific qualifications to participate?
No qualification is needed. If you love to code, you should participate in the FaaS Wars.

- How do I submit the robot I've built for the FaaS Wars?
Follow the steps in the competition tutorial, sign up for Nimbella and once you're ready, press the "Submit to FaaS Wars" button :)

- How does the referral program work/How can I earn "extra" lives for my robot? Once you are login to Nimbella on the game page you would see below the buttons to share with friends/ colleagues etc. You can choose the relevant channels to share - Twitter, Facebook, Email, Linkedin, WhatsApp, HackerNews, Reddit. Once anybody would log in to the FaaS Wars using your unique link, you would receive an extra life. There are no limitations, and you can gain as many as possible lives through the referral program.

- How is the environment? Will your environment support any language? Will you provide any IDE and DB for us to work on ideas?
The environment is included in the game, just register and you will have access to an online editor where you can code your robot. You can also use your editor and all the Nimbella tools if you want as the robot controlling actions are normal Nimbella web actions producing JSON. The available languages are Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby, Rust, Typescript, Deno, Java, and Swift. You can use an IDE of your choice, and any language supported by the Nimbella Platform for your development.

- Since there is no specific technology mentioned, are there any restrictions on using a number of pre-built libraries?
There is no restriction to use any technology stack, or libraries to build your application. Also you do not need any external library to code the robots, just the base language.

- A fully developed application needs to have a solid backend for data storage like SQL, SharePoint etc. since its online, is it accepted to show only the prototype of it?
You do not need to store data for a robot as there is a way for the robot to keep a state, similar to web sessions.
