Overview

It is with immense pleasure that Oakridge International School announces the Oak Codefest, a programming competition that will be held on the 19th and 20th of January, 2018.

We strive to develop a platform for students of ever-increasing technical caliber from the secondary segment to mould and showcase their skills to the world. The selected themes are of significant domestic and global importance, and all these developers would be working towards solutions to real-world problems. Throughout the event, they would be collaborating and growing to attain that goal. Given that this is no easy task, the Codefest will be held for 24 hours, over the span of the entire night until the following day. The entire experience intends to be as rich, fulfilling and remarkable as possible, and I sincerely hope you will encourage your students to be a part of it.

Themes

Participants are recommended to use two or more themes for their project but are expected to choose one primary theme.

Just to clarify all themes are open from 6 to 8th grades while only the first four themes are open for 9th to 12th grades, Game development is exclusive for 6th to 8thth graders

For more information on themes email us oakcodefest@oakridge.in or visit codefest.oakridge.in

Transportation

Humans, around the world, commute millions of miles every single day. A significant fraction of our day is spent in traveling. Technology has played a very significant role in enabling more people to commute. Be it in the form discovery, aggregation or purchase, technology has redefined the way we commute. Imagine how technology can human experience even better in day to day transportation and commute. What can technology do make public and private transportation much simpler?

Examples : Traffic reduction software,Autonomous Transport Solutions, etc

Energy Informatics

Energy informatics is the field covering the use of information and communication technology to address energy challenges.

The efficiency of our nation's energy grids, has the ability to affect the course of our lives, and the challenges we face. After all, electricity plays a huge part in everyone's world. The ability to improve our energy informatics is one that is imperative for the future of our entire work. What can technology do to make our energy informatics more efficient?

Examples : Smart City solutions, Internet of Things, Micro grids, Battery Management Systems, etc

Human Assistance

Computer Science was made to make life easier for humans. In today's world, we have reached the peak of what we are able to achieve using computation. Everyday tasks are becoming easier and easier. With that being said, What more can we achieve? How can we use our computer science skills to make everyday life easier for everyone?

Examples : Disability Assistant Solutions,Routine Planning Algorithm, Smart Assistance, etc

Enhance Solutions

What separates the human race from other animals, is their desire to innovate and simplify the world around them. Our lives are full of complex problems, and through the use of programming, we can solve them. In the same vein, are the solutions we make perfect? How can we use programming to make better and more innovative solutions?

Examples : Optimizing Pre-made Algorithms, Designing New User Interface, etc

Game Development(Exclusively 6-8th Grade)

Video games are a great way to have fun and learn code at the same time! Use your knowledge of coding to make fun and interactive game for everyone to enjoy!
