Overview

Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Stemettes invite you to a weekend of creativity and making with women in STEM. The event will be hosted by Head Stemette, Anne-Marie Imafidon.

Coding weekends are about bringing people together to create amazing things using computers. We think it's really sad that some people have never had proper fun with creativity and computer science, so we want to give you the opportunity to explore and play about in the creative, exciting world of technology.

Join us to experience building your own app and seeing how it's done at companies like Bank of America Merrill Lynch. The event promises to provide a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with STEM professionals and discover new opportunities over light refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere.

Themes

General

Hacks in any theme also belong to General.

Digital

Digital has impacted us in a manner that no other technology had ever been able to do so. Today everything is digital from day one, and with that comes an immense opportunity to leverage two core functions of digital - easy access to humongous volume of data and ability to disseminate information at massive scale. How can you leverage these things to build apps that can help improve our experience of everything around us.

Big Data

Data can unravel things helping us challenge the status quo everyday. Big data can help us solve big problems and help us solve real life challenges in any field across economy, governance, mobility, quality of life etc.

E-commerce

E-commerce has changed everyone’s shopping behavior. The ability to sit at your home, browse through millions of searchable and indexed products and get them delivered with a click of a button is revolutionary. But a lot of things can be improved. Build apps that help us in better buying decision, that make the operations process much simpler or simply just makes e-commerce more consumer friendly

Logistics

If only our judiciary could be more efficient. Why do we need to stand in queues in courts. why do we need to do all the paper work offline in legal system. and Why are we still signing agreements offline. This all can be digitized and the system can be made very simple and effective. Re-imagining how we do our legal work, which can be a nightmare, would make our whole judiciary better and improve all our lives.

Transportation

Humans, around the world, commute millions of miles every single day. A significant fraction of our day is spent in traveling. Technology has played a very significant role in enabling more people to commute. Be it in the form discovery, aggregation or purchase, technology has redefined the way we commute. Imagine how technology can human experience even better in day to day transportation and commute. What can technology do make public and private transportation much simpler.
