  1. Do I need to pay any money to register for the Hackathon?
    No. You do not have to pay anything to anyone to register yourself for any Hackathon on HackerEarth.

  2. Do I need to have any specific qualifications to be a participant for the Hackathon?
    If you love to code, you are more than welcome to participate in the Hackathon.

  3. How can I discover team-members or explore opportunities for joining other teams?
    In case you are looking for like-minded people with complementary skills to form teams with, here is what you can do

  4. Where can I submit my idea and what all info should my idea include?
    Your idea should be submitted under Project synopsis and MUST include 4 things a) Idea title b) Idea Description c) Industry Addressed d) Business Impact.

  5. Can I submit any other documents in the idea submission phase?
    If you want to upload any additional documents apart from the above as part of the idea, you can upload the same on any drive and paste the link at the end of the Project Synopsis box. (Optional)

  6. What all do I need to upload in the Application submission? The following deliverables need to be submitted before the submission deadline:
    Demo: (Mandatory)
    o For a WebApp – Link to the hosted application. Application can be hosted on any 3rd party platform like Heroku, AWS and the link/URL is to be only submitted here
    o For a mobile app – the packaged installable file for Android, iPhone or Windows phone. Upload the packaged installable file (.apk, .plist) to HackerEarth. We welcome Android, iOS and Windows mobile apps. Remember, it must be an installable file.
    Source Code (Mandatory): The source code must be uploaded to the HackerEarth platform.
    Demo Video (Mandatory): 3-5 minute long video covering the demo of the working application with you explaining it. You must also explain how you applied the principles of Design Thinking in Phase II! Upload it on HackerEarth/ Youtube (Private link) and share the link here!
    Supporting Material: You could also upload a presentation (powerpoint format) that you would like to provide to the judges to help them understand your application. It should have an explanation of the architecture and technologies used in the application
    Attachments: You can also share the Demo Video and other supporting collaterals in a Zipped file (.zip). For any attachment, the naming convention should be TeamName_ProjectName.zip Upload the ZIP file to the attachments

  7. Do I need to give a demo for the product that I have built? Yes,you have to submit a small presentation or video that demos your submission.

  8. Do we need to have the entire idea fully working?
    The entire idea need not be fully implemented however, the submission should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges.

  9. A fully developed application need to have a solid backend for data storage like SQL, SharePoint etc. since its online, is it accepted to show only the proto type of it?
    Yes, it's absolutely fine to submit just the prototype. If you use any database like MySQL or PostgresSQL you can also submit a database dump along with your submission. However, you are allowed to submit just the prototype.

  10. How do I submit what I have made for the Hackathon?
    You have to develop the application on your local system and submit it on HackerEarth in tar/zip file format along with instructions to run the application and source code.

  11. Where do I host the application?
    The application / POC needs to be hosted and the link of the hosted applications needs to be submitted to HackerEarth. The hosting can be done in AWS, Heroku, Bluemix or any other free platform of your choice.

  12. How is the environment? Will your environment support any language? Will you provide any IDE and DB for us to work on ideas?
    You have to develop the entire software application on your local system.

  13. Since there is no specific technology mentioned, are there any restrictions on using number of pre-built libraries?
    There is no restriction to use any language, technology stack, or libraries. You can use any of them to create the web/mobile application.

  14. Does one have to be online and available for the entire duration of the Hackathon?
    No, one does not need to be logged in on HackerEarth or be online for the entire duration. You can develop the application on your local system based on the given themes and then submit it on HackerEarth, on the specific challenge page.

  15. If it is a team submission, does that mean all team members will have access to work at the same time?
    Yes, all team members can login from their account and do application submission on HackerEarth.

  16. Who will own the IP(Intellectual Property) Rights to the product that I have built?
    As part of employment conditions, all IP belongs to Wipro.
