Do I need to pay any money to register for the Hackathon?
No. You do not have to pay anything to anyone to register yourself for any Hackathon on Hackerearth.

How do I submit my idea?
Please fill in the details in the Idea Submission Presentation and upload it as an attachment.

Can I submit more than one attachment for Idea Submission?
No. You can submit just 1 attachment for Idea Submission. Idea Submission Presentation should be submitted as an attachment in the Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation file format (ppt).

Can I delete the attachment after making an Idea Submission?
No. You cannot delete the attachment after making an Idea Submission. What you can do is attach another attachment. This will rewrite your previous attachment.

What is the maximum size of the attachment for Idea Submission?
The maximum size is 200 MB.

If I am shortlisted, would I be provided with any reimbursement?
Each of the shortlisted teams would receive a prepaid card valued at Rs. 10,000 to manage their expenses at the time of registration at the Mastercard office.

Do I need to have any specific qualifications to be a participant for the Hackathon?
If you love to code and have a revolutionary idea, you can participate in the Hackathon.

How do I submit what I have made for the Hackathon?
The finalists will be invited for the Offline Hackathon event where they will need to submit the deliverables in a tar/zip file.

How is the software development environment? Will your environment support any programming language? Will you provide any IDE and Database for us to work on ideas?
You have to develop the solution on your local system and submit it to Mastercard in a tar/zip file format along with instructions to run the application and source code.

Are there any Mastercard APIs available?
Yes. All available Mastercard APIs can be referred at https://developer.mastercard.com/apis.

Does one have to be available for the entire duration of the Offline Hackathon?
The Offline Hackathon will be conducted over 2 days and the teams are expected to be register on Day 1 and present their solution to the judging panel on Day 2.

Since there is no specific technology mentioned, are there any restrictions on using number of pre-built libraries?
There is no restriction to use any programming language, technology stack, or libraries. You can use any of them to create your solution. You would need to provide the licensing information with a list of software used, if applicable.

Do I need to give a demo for the product that I have built?
Yes. You would be required to give a demo and also run your solution in front of the judges. Judges may ask you to run your solution for different input values. Refer to Terms & Conditions for the list of deliverables required for the Offline Hackathon.

Who will own the IP (Intellectual Property) Rights to the solution that I have built?
All intellectual property rights concerning the idea submissions shall remain with you. However, by submitting your idea, you are granting Mastercard an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right and license to use, sub-license, and exploit your idea in any desired way.

Am I required to work overnight?
Participants have the choice to work through the night and is optional. For teams that decide to work overnight, Mastercard will provide the necessary arrangements within office premises to create a comfortable atmosphere.

Will I have any time to do regular work and/or check my email?
We would encourage you to work towards building your solution. However, you are allowed to work for yourself as long as you are not disturbing other teams.

Will there be refreshments and other meals provided?
Mastercard will provide all meals for the time you are at the event.

What does my team need to deliver?
During offline hackathon you would need to deliver below items.

  • 90 second video describing the solution
  • Working prototype
  • Executive presentation
  • Source Code developed along with installation instructions

How will my team be judged?
There will be a judging panel who will judge you on certain pre-determined criteria and the deliverables mentioned earlier. Further details will be communicated to the shortlisted teams.

Can I register as an individual?
You can register on hackerearth and submit the idea as a one member team; the maximum team size is three (3) members.

Can I use Mastercard network during the event?
No. Access to Mastercard internal network would not be provided. Internet connectivity/WIFI hotspot and power source would be provided to teams.

Can I participate if I’m a Mastercard employee?
Yes, you can participate. However, please do read Terms & Conditions.

Who do I need on my team?
You need people with the appropriate skillsets to develop and deliver on your idea. Your deliverable should include a working prototype, pitch video and an executive presentation. This means your team is encouraged to include a mix of technical / developers and UX / designers. All skillsets will play an important role in making your solution shine.

Can I add team members at any time?
Team members have to be added before idea submission phase ends.

Can I change the theme my team is responding to?
You cannot change the selected theme once shortlisted for Offline Hackathon.

Is there a limit to the number of people that can be on my team?
Team can have maximum of three (3) people.

What is the prize for the winning team?
There are three prizes

  • Winner : Rs. 2,00,000
  • 1st Runners Up : Rs. 1,00,000
  • 2nd Runners Up : Rs 75,000

How much time is involved?
Amplitude 2017 is a two day event and you must be present for both days.

What is the venue for Offline Hackathon event?
