Mentored by business leaders, you'll collaborate to build solutions that will propel their organizations into the 21st Century.

Wawa HCL Hackathon 2019 is being conducted to inspire ideas ranging from real-time retail business challenges to automation in the cloud, self-remediation, IoT, and cost optimization. The ideas imagined by developers will correlate with retail industry trends around topics that reflect the pulse of activity.

Workload Management

Bob has a chain of sandwich shops that sells sandwiches as well as retail items like chips and sodas to go with the sandwiches. In each store, Bob has multiple sandwich stations where his employees can make sandwiches. Bob takes orders in-store, on the web, or via mobile. He then delivers these orders via the store counter or through his delivery service called 'Bob’s sandwich delivery service'.

Sandwich Order

Jane has a busy bakery in the city that makes the most popular muffins in town. Her primary differentiator is that she sells muffins that can be customized with over 100 options at the customers request. To enable this customization, she setup a series of kiosks within the store where customers can configure their orders.

Sales Forecast

Robert has a problem – he doesn’t understand the volatility in his stores’ sales. He knows that sales vary between different times of day, on different days of the week, and that two categories may behave very differently. But even comparing his store’s BTO Sandwich sales on several consecutive Fridays at lunchtime, there are significant differences. Robert needs a way to understand what else is going on here, and what, if anything, he can do about it.
