    2. Round 2 submissions must be made by October 18, 2022 at 11:59pm Pacific Daylight Time, unless a later date is posted on the Hackathon Website, in which case the deadline is extended to that new date.
    3. You do not need to have participated in Round 1 to participate in Round 2. Both new and previous round participants are welcome in Round 2! (However, Daisies submitted for Round 1 are not eligible to win in Round 2. You must submit NEW Daisies for Round 2 to win prizes in Round 2.)
    4. Promotion of Daisies may be done for a week after the Submission Deadline, i.e., the Sponsor will tally the Stars/Likes and Most API Calls by Unique Individuals as of TEN (10) DAYS following the Submission Deadline.
    5. Hackathon deadlines are subject to change and additional deadlines may be introduce during the Hackathon. Any additional or altered deadlines not already described in these rules will be updated on the Hackathon Website for the Participants’ information and the Participant will be bound by such changes. The Participant agrees to monitor the Hackathon Website regularly to get information about new or updated deadlines. Neither HackerEarth nor Sponsor is responsible for any participant’s failure to do so.
  2. Single Account Only:
    1. Each registered individual or member of a Team is referred to as a Participant. Participants may only participate using a single, unique HackerEarth account registered at hackerearth.com. Participating in the Hackathon using more than one HackerEarth account per individual Participant is a breach of these rules and the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Participant or Team that includes the Participant who has breached these rules.
  3. Data Collection:
    1. HackerEarth will collect your personal information as specified by the Sponsor. The data includes but is not limited to the following:
      1. Email address
      2. Display name
  • User profile URL
  1. Information contained in your user profile, including, without limitation,
    1. LinedIn Profile
    2. Twitter Profile
  2. Daisi user name
  3. Email used on the app.daisi.io platform
  • Any other information collected during registration for the Hackathon
  • All the submissions made during the Hackathon including any personally identifiable information that the submissions may contain
  1. Teams
    1. A Participant may either participate in his individual capacity or collaborate with more than one Participant to form a Team. Each Team member must be a single individual with a single, active HackerEarth account. Each team member must register individually for the Hackathon before joining a Team. Teams may not exceed the Maximum Team Size specified by the Sponsor.
    2. For the purposes of this Hackathon, the Sponsor has determined that the maximum Participants in a Team will be limited to four (4) Participants. If a team has more than 4 Participants, it will be disqualified by the Hackathon Organizer. A Team may have a minimum of one (1) participant.
  2. Submissions
    1. As part of the Hackathon, participants are required to submit their material on the platform made available for the purpose. Submissions may include ideas, prototypes, and applications. Key to this Hackathon will be creating one or more “Daisies” on the app.daisi.io platform. A Daisi may contain either original and unique code OR be based on fully open-source code that permits reuse. The creation of the Daisi must contain some original content, so if open-source code is used, care should be taken to add a thoughtful Readme file about the Daisi at a minimum; adding a front-end (e.g., with Streamlit), further documentation, graphics, and other additions will be important too.
    2. Importantly, if someone puts up a Daisi with Open-Source Software, cloning that Daisi and making minor changes then claiming it as your own is NOT considered a valid submission, and anyone abuse others submissions in this way will be disqualified from the Hackathon
    3. Since there are multiple judging phases, the relevant submissions must be made on or before the end of each phase in the format defined on the Hackathon Website.
    4. For this Hackathon, each Participant or Team may submit multiple Daisies!
    5. For Round 2, each Daisi MUST conform to one or more of the Round 2 Themes to be eligible
    6. At the time of submission, all submitted Daisies must be marked as “PUBLIC” so anyone can use them. They must remain as “PUBLIC” thereafter.
    7. All Daisies submitted as part of this Hackathon become the property of the Sponsor. The underlying code remains either the property of the author or open source; however, if the code is not open source, rights are conveyed to the Sponsor to continue to use the Code as part of the submitted Daisi, royalty-free and in perpetuity.
  3. Ethics and Code of Conduct
    1. Participating in a Hackaton using multiple HackerEarth accounts is a violation of the Hackathon rules and will result in the disqualification of the Team and/or the Participant by HackerEarth. Upon disqualification, each Participant’s access to the HackerEarth Community will be terminated for an indefinite period. Using any unfair means (e.g., having someone else log in with your credentials and submit a project on your behalf) during the Hackathon will result in your disqualification from the Hackathon and from any other Hackathons that may be affected by your actions.
    2. By submitting a Daisi, you represent that you have full rights to use the underlying code of that Daisi; using other people’s code (unless open source and properly attributed) is prohibited except where you have written proof to use the code and to convey to Sponsor royalty-free use of said code in perpetuity.
    3. Each Participant agrees that participating in the Hackathon does not grant him or her the license (expressly, by implication, estoppel, or otherwise) or any right of ownership to the data or resources provided as part of the Hackathon or as part of the Sponsor websites or platforms.
    4. If the Participant is employed or under contract to any company or entity, the Participant represents that their participation in the Hackathon is outside their working hours using their personal equipment, property, and network ONLY, and that they are not under any contract or agreement which would transfer the right of the submission to their employer or other entity.
  4. Prizes
    1. ROUND 1- TOTAL PRIZE POOL: US $10,000.00
    2. The $10K in total prizes is split between three categories:
      1. “Judge's Choice” Prizes – Best Daisies (Based on Quality)
        1. $2,500 GRAND PRIZE
        2. $1,000 2nd Place;
        3. $500 3rd Place
      2. Daisi with the MOST API CALLS by unique individuals (based on usage)
        1. $2,500 GRAND PRIZE
        2. $500 Runner Up
  • Daisi with the MOST STARS (based on "likes")
    1. $2,500 GRAND PRIZE
    2. $500 Runner Up
ROUND 2 PRIZE POOL - TOTAL OF $10,000 U.S. (this is in addition to Round 1 prizes!)
  • Judge’s Pick -- Best Overall Quality / Usefulness
    • Winner: $2,500
    • 2nd Place: $1,500
    • 3rd Place: $1,000
  • Most called Daisi (based on API calls)
    • Winner: $2,500
    • 2nd Place: $1,500
    • 3rd Place: $1,000
    1. Prizes can“stack” so, for instance, one Submission could win in multiple categories above
    2. Furthermore, a Team or Participant can submit multiple Daisies to have a better chance of winning more prizes
    3. Thus, it is possible that one Team could sweep all the prizes and win the full $10,000

    1. Judging Criteria
      1. The JUDGES’ PICKwill be the company’s pick for Best Daisi and will take into account
        1. how well it is designed and documented,
        2. how useful it is to the Daisi community,
    • how well it shows off the capabilities of the Daisi platform
    1. Both user interface (e.g., Streamlit) and API functionality will be considered.
    2. It is a subjective call on behalf of the company based on quality.
    1. The MOST API CALLSaward is based on how many times a Daisi is called via an API (e.g., from a Jupyter notebook or other source). See the API tab of your Daisi and encourage others to try it and call its API!
      1. For the purposes of this Hackathon, we will only be counting UNIQUE USER calls to the Daisi.
      2. Thus, the counter shown on app.daisi.io may over-state calls.
    • To have the best chance to win this prize,
      1. build a Daisi to provide an API that many people will find useful!
      2. publicize your Daisi with your colleagues
      3. promote your Daisi on social media, and
      4. submit and make your Daisi PUBLIC as early as possible so it has maximum time to be used before the end of the judging period.
    1. Finally, the MOST STARSprize is based on how many other users "star" or "like" your Daisi. To have the best chance to win this prize we suggest:
      1. Build a Daisi with a good user interface, e.g., with Streamlit code
      2. Provide really clear READ ME instructions
    • Make sure to include a compelling image
    1. Ask your friends and colleagues to "Star" your Daisi
    2. Promote your Daisi on social media, and
    3. Make your Daisi PUBLIC as early as possible so it has the most time to be used.
    1. A single Submission can win multiple categories of prizes -- e.g., it could win JUDGES' PICK, MOST API CALLS, andMOST STARS. (Plus, a Team can submit multiple Daisies to have more chances to win, too.)

IMPORTANT: The API calls and Stars/Likes categories are designed to have REAL users calling and starring your Daisies. Any effort to artificially inflate these including, without limitation, via botnets, click farms, automated scripting, and/or other non-authentic usage shall be either removed from a Daisi total or, if deemed abusive in the sole judgement of the Sponsor, the abusing team shall be disqualified from the Hackathon. We want you to promote your Daisies to authentic users via social media but any attempts to artificially inflate the metrics via non-real users are not allowed.

    1. Disqualifications
      1. A winning Participant or Team can be disqualified for breaching any of the rules
      2. Any Participant or Team found “gaming” the count of calls or likes to their Daisies by using automated, repeated-calling or a botnet or similar automation to artificially inflate the calls or likes to their Daisies will be disqualified
      3. While it is OK and in fact encouraged to promote your Daisi(es) to your friends, colleagues, associates both individually and/or on social media in order to get API calls and likes, no “SPAM” emails or other prohibited promotional messages should be used – if a Team or Participant is sending mass unsolicited emails, texts, or similar, they will be disqualified.
      4. Additional criteria for disqualification include:
        1. The required documentation is not submitted within 10 (ten) days of receipt of any request to provide documentation
        2. Prize notification letter/email or prize is returned because it cannot be delivered
    • A potential winner or a member of the winning team is disqualified for any reason
    1. Unclaimed prizes or prizes that would have gone to a disqualified Participant or Team will be distributed to the next eligible Participant or Team
    1. Winner’s Responsibilities
      1. Winner’s tax identification information (social security number, PAN, or similar tax ID, including full name and physical address) must be provided upon request in order to receive the prizes
      2. ALL TAXES, FEES, AND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL LEVIES SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER WHO WILL REPORT ANY WINNINGS AS REQUIRED BY THEIR LOCAL TAX LAWS.
      3. HackerEarth or Sponsor may withhold taxes if required to do so by law and the Winner understands that any payment may be net after taxes – i.e., the winning prize will not be grossed up for taxes.
      4. You may be asked to sign a license confirming IP ownership of the winning entry is property of the Sponsor in order to be eligible for your Prize.
