Hackathon structure
- This hackathon will be conducted over two phases.
- Phase 1 is an ideation phase.
- Phase 2 is a prototype development phase.
- Phase 1 will begin on August 23 and last 5 weeks ending on Sept 24. During Phase 1 participants will:
- Register
- Form teams (teams can be 1 to 5 registrants)
- Explore and interact with Resideo technology partners
- Note: teams are not required to use Resideo technology partners or their devices in this competition, but our partners are ready and willing to help you with your projects
- Develop ideas
- Submit ideas
- Idea submissions can be in any form the team prefers and can include write-ups, PowerPoint presentations, videos, websites, or other, in any combination thereof. However, submissions will not be interactive with the judging panel.
- Following Phase 1 idea submissions (due on or before Sept 24), the Resideo evaluation committee will review submissions and select a minimum of 30 ideas/teams that will progress to Phase 2.
- Teams selected to progress to Phase 2 will be announced on Oct 11.
- Each team selected to progress to Phase 2 will be awarded $200.
- Phase 2 will begin on Oct 18 and ends on Dec 3 . During this period teams will develop a functional demonstration or prototype of the idea.
- Over the three-week period beginning Nov 15 and ending on to Dec 3, each team will be scheduled for a 30-minute virtual presentation with the Resideo judging panel during which the prototype will be demonstrated and the value proposition is explained.
- On Dec 13 Resideo will announce the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners of the event.
- 1st place will be awarded $10,000, 2nd place will be awarded $5,000, and 3rd place will be awarded $2,500.
- This event is open to the global community of innovators/hackers, and to our employees. Employee submissions will be through the same process and timeline. Judging selection processes for overall winners in both phases will not consider if the team is internal or external.
