  • For this hackathon, team participation, as well as solo participation is also applicable. You can have at most 5 members in your team.

  • You can either invite your friends to form a team or you can request other teams to add you as a member.

  • There are 14 themes of the hackathon, you must submit a hack that is in one of these themes.

  • Once the hackathon starts, you will get an option to submit your hack, you can submit as many times as you want, the last hack will be considered as the final submission.

  • You are expected to come up with new and innovative ideas, any idea that has been copied from somewhere will be disqualified.

  • Your hack must be developed entirely during the Hackathon duration. You may use open source libraries and other freely available systems / services such as Google Maps, Facebook Connect, Twitter feeds etc.

  • The intellectual property of your code belongs only to your team.

Terms and Conditions

Participation

  • All participants must be 18+ of age, and Indian nationals at the time of registration. Anyone having a passion for sports, regardless of educational background, experience or expertise can participate.
  • This event is open for Indian citizens, residing in India.
  • The problem statements can be solved from technical perspective or non-technical perspective.
  • Individuals who wish to work solo may register as a “Solo Team” are free to apply

Key Milestones

  • Registrations/Idea Development: Rolling applications are welcome from 29th March – 24th April ’22. Participant’s curate and submit their ideas in collaboration with a community of like-minded peers or solo until 24 April ‘22
  • Prototype Development Round: All participating teams should shoot a video or submit a deck to proceed to the semifinal round any time before 22nd April ‘22. Shortlisting will be done on a rolling basis. This will be a virtual round
  • Demo Day/Deck Day (Online): Qualifying teams pitch their work to a distinguished panel of jury and larger audience in less than 3 mins in May first week. This will be a virtual round
  • Grand Finale: Closing ceremony and Physical Final in Goa or Mumbai in mid-June ‘22. Finalists will receive part or full compensation/support for travel and accommodation.

Evaluation Criteria & Process:

Eligible Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges (the “Jury”) selected by the organizers. Jury will include some of the leading stalwarts of the Sports industry. They may be employees of the organizers or external, will be listed on the Hack For Sport page, and may change before or during the Judging Period. Evaluation will take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of Jury, at the discretion of the organizers.

  • Technology/ Ideation
    • Tech: How technically impressive is the solution? Is it a digital or physical technology? How relevant is the use of tech? Is it simple or complicated?
    • Ideation/ Non tech: How ingenious and relevant is your solution? Is it a product idea or a whole new system of approaching existing problems? Is it simple or complicated?
  • Design: What are the design principles or ethos in place? Is there emphasis on stakeholder experience? How aesthetically pleasing is it?

These criteria will govern the decision making of jury but they are free to include more nuanced criteria, with a pure intention to recognize the most impressive and most deserving entries.

Please note that the decision of the jury will be considered as the final decision.

Language restrictions

  • All communication or materials submitted must be in English or, Hindi, to keep it inclusive for all participants, mentors and jury from across India.
  • Demo video, text description, deck as well as all other materials submitted must all comply with the recommended languages
  • If due to some constraint, team is not adept in either of the languages, it is the duty of the team to appoint a translator who can translate the presentation real time and all materials

  • Final prize disbursement is subject to verification of identity and will be done only after ascertaining role of participants in the project. The final decision to designate a winner shall be made by the organizers.
  • The competition partners may reward the teams according to additional criteria identified due to the evaluation of projects during the final round. However, partners are not obligated to offer such rewards.
  • All prizes are to be shared between all team members
  • In case a breach of rules is discovered after the award of prizes, the prizes will need to be returned.

Collection & use of your information

  • Organizers may ask you for additional information to confirm that you are in compliance with these Terms and Conditions and/or (if applicable) are eligible to receive prizes. Your failure to provide such information within the requested time frame may render you ineligible.
  • Please see our privacy statement (https://www.sporjo.com/privacy-policy) for information about how we collect, use and disclose information you provide. The terms of the Privacy Statement are incorporated by reference into these Terms and Conditions.

Ownership of entries & investment in respect of entries

  • Participant represents and warrants that the Entry(ies) is and will be Participant’s own original work and does not and will not infringe the intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights of any third party, including, without limitation, any third party patents, copyrights or trademarks. The Participant further represents and warrants that the Entry(ies) will not infringe any applicable laws, rules or regulations, or terms of employment, terms of access, etc., which apply to the participant. By entering the Hack for Sport event, each participant grants Sporjo a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to distribute and publicly display the Entry/ies.
  • By participating in the Hack for Sport event, the participant agrees that in the event the participant seeks any investment (whether by way of equity instruments, debt instruments, hybrid instruments or otherwise) in respect of any business venture in relation to the Entry, the participant shall present Sporjo, to the exclusion of all other entities, a written term sheet for such investment, and in the event Sporjo expresses interest in investing in the above mentioned business venture of the participant, the participant and Sporjo shall negotiate on a good faith basis regarding the term sheet for a period of thirty (30) days commencing from the time of intimation by Sporjo of its interest in investing in the participant’s business venture. If mutual agreement in principle is not reached at the end of such negotiations, then the participant may contract with any third party of its choosing regarding the proposed investment. In no event will these negotiations under this clause obligate Sporjo to ultimately invest in the business venture of any participant.

Confidentiality

  • The Participant acknowledges the confidentiality of all information and documents which have been shared with him/her throughout Hack For Sport. During the whole duration of the event, the Participant will not directly, nor indirectly use or share any information with any third party, unless s/he has obtained a written authorisation to do so, delivered by the Organiser beforehand
  • This applies to information shared with him/her by the Organiser or shared with him/her indirectly pursuant to/in relation to his/her participation in the Hack For Sport event. The Participant commits to delivering any document containing confidential information or shared with the Participant pursuant to/in relation to his/her participation in the Hack For Sport event, on the Organiser’s simple request.
  • This confidentiality agreement is valid for 36 months from the start of the day participant registers.

Code of Ethics & Conduct

  • This Code establishes the Hack For Sport's norms of conduct and ethical standards to be followed in making decisions during participation in competitions, during the preparation for and after the conduct of competitions.
  • This Code sets out the principles, values and standards that govern conduct, decision-making process, regulations and standards of organizers in a manner that respects both the interests of our key partners and the rights of all people and organizations that our activities affect
  • Conflict of interest: no participant or partner shall engage in any activity that directly contradicts interests of BCCPL.
  • Any personal interests related to the commercial activities of Hack For Sport are subject to public disclosure.
  • Transparency: all partners and participants of Hack For Sport shall communicate their decisions and actions transparently to the extent possible. They shall explain the cause of their actions and restrict access to information only when public interest clearly demands it
  • Equal opportunities for all competitors: all persons involved in Hack For Sport must demonstrate a high level of integrity, honesty, and fairness to all participants, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants, regardless of gender, religious and cultural affiliation, philosophical or political views, marriage status, language, etc.
  • All key partners, competition organizers, and participants are obliged to comply with the rules governing hygiene and safety equipment applicable at the competition venue and the specific hygiene and safety equipment rules applicable to the competition in any particular trade.
  • Please treat all other participants with utmost respect. We expect all to act kindly, maintain professional conduct, and do not insult or disrespect other participants. Harassment and racist, sexist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for this event. If at any point you see a fellow participant being harassed, please contact the organizers.
  • Failure to comply with the above-stated Code of Conduct may result in the offending team's disqualification 

Other T&C

  • Organizers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Hack For Sport event, or any part of it, in the event of a technical failure, fraud, or any other factor or event that was not anticipated or is not within their control
  • Organizers reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any individual or Team it finds to be actually or presenting the appearance of tampering with the functioning of Hack For Sport or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in a manner that is inappropriate, unsportsmanlike, not in the best interests of this event, or a violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the Official Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Hack For Sport materials, including but not limited to the forms, website, marketing (including but not limited to social media, communication platforms, print, radio, online ads or TV), the terms and conditions of the Official Rules shall prevail.
  • The terms and conditions of the Official Rules are subject to change at any time, including the rights or obligations of the Team, and the organizers will post the terms and conditions of the amended Rules on the Hack For Sport Website. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any amendment will become effective at the time specified in the posting of the amended Official Rules or, if no time is specified, the time of posting.
  • If at any time, prior to the deadline, a Team or prospective Team believes that any Official Rule is or may be unclear or ambiguous, they must submit a written request for clarification.
  • Should any provision of these Rules be or become illegal or unenforceable in any jurisdiction whose laws or regulations may apply to a Team, such illegality or unenforceability shall leave the remainder of these Official Rules, including the Rule affected, to the fullest extent permitted by law, unaffected and valid
  • Nothing herein shall constitute an employment, joint venture, or partnership relationship between Participant and organizers. Participants will not receive any compensation from organizers in connection with any Entries
  • Each Participant acknowledges and agrees that organizers or other Participants or third parties may have developed or commissioned works which are similar to the Entry of Participant or Participant’s team, or may develop something similar in the future, and each Participant waives any claims that Participant may have resulting from any similarities to the Entry of Participant or Participant’s team
  • Participants shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless, severally and/ or collectively as the case maybe, BCCPL(“Sporjo”) and its successors and their respective shareholders, officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents and assignees from and against any and all claims asserted against, imposed upon or incurred, due to, arising out of or relating to their participation in Hack For Sport or any projects submitted for Hack For Sport
  • Participants will conduct themselves in a manner, which is in keeping with best practices and shall not defame, ridicule, disparage or bring BCCPL (“Sporjo”) into disrepute.
  • The terms and conditions of Hack For Sport shall be governed and construed in accordance with laws of India and the courts of Mumbai, India shall have the exclusive jurisdiction.
  • BCCPL(‘Sporjo”) will not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage, costs, expenses incurred, directly or indirectly, by participants by partipating in the Hack For Sport event.
  • Dispute Resolution: Any dispute, controversy or claims arising out of participation in Hack For Sport or submission of projects shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and shall be subject to the following
    • the arbitral tribunal shall be composed of one (1) arbitrator to be mutually appointed
    • the place of arbitration shall be at Mumbai, India, and any award whether interim or final, shall be made, and shall be deemed for all purposes between the Parties to be made, in Mumbai, India
    • the arbitral procedure shall be conducted in the English language and any award or awards shall be rendered in English. The procedural law of the arbitration shall be Indian law; and 
    • the award of the arbitrator shall be final and conclusive and binding upon the Parties, and the Parties shall be entitled (but not obliged) to enter judgement thereon in any one or more of the highest courts having jurisdiction. The Parties further agree (to the maximum extent possible and allowed to them) that such enforcement shall be subject to the provisions of the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and neither Party shall seek to resist the enforcement of any award in India on the basis that such award is not subject to such provisions.
