  1. Who can participate in Bank of Baroda Finathon?
    All interested Techies, Developers, Students and Start-ups across the nation can participate in this event.There is no constraints on Age or Experience.

  2. How to participate in Bank of Baroda Finathon?
    Participants can register through the following HackerEarth link: bit.ly/BarodaFinathon

  3. Is there a registration fee?
    No, registration is absolutely free.

  4. What should be the team size and it’s structure?
    Baroda Finathon invites teams with size ranging from 1 to 3 members. An ideal team composition can be a Developer; a UX / UI specialist and an expert in banking domain. One Mandatory Nomination of team leader is required who will represent the group and drive the conversation on behalf of it.

  5. Can an individual registration be made?
    Yes, Individual developers can participate on their own.

  6. What are the activities/timelines of this event?
    The event will take place over the duration of two months. The important phases of this event are as under:

  7. How will the participants be intimated of successful registration in the event?
    Confirmation mail will be sent by Hackerearth to the registered mail id of the Individual/Team leader..

  8. How do the participants need to submit idea in phase 1?
    Participants need to share the synopsis of their idea in the following pdf format.

    The document has to be of maximum 5 pages. The solution should be based on any one of the themes of Baroda Finathon. Participants should also confirm which particular API category or categories they are planning to use. Based on above inputs, the participants will be shortlisted for phase 2.

  9. How to submit the final solution in phase 2?
    Participant can develop the application on their local system and submit it on HackerEarth portal in rar/zip file format along with the details which contains the instructions to run the application and the business benefits of their solution for the Bank.

  10. Can the Bank’s, Partner’s and External APIs be used to develop solutions under themes other than Innovation Theme?
    Yes. Participants can use Bank’s, Partner’s and External APIs to develop solutions under any other hackathon theme (Innovation, Customer Acquisition, Customer Experience, Conversational Banking, Collections, Compliance and Operational Efficiency).

  11. What are the Prizes that can be won?
    There will be three cash prizes:

    • 1st winner: 5 Lacs
    • 2nd winner:3 Lacs
    • 3rd winner: 2 Lacs
      Also, participants may get a potential opportunity to explore a commercial relationship with Bank.
  12. Will bank provide reimbursement for travel expense for finalists?
    All finalists will be reimbursed to and fro budget lowest economy airfares of the travel dates.

  13. Will the bank provide accommodation for finalists?
    No, the bank will not provide any accommodation.

  14. What will be the evaluation criteria for this event?
    The Submission provided in Bank of Baroda Finathon Challenge will be evaluated on the following parameters:

    • Business Potential and Relevance
    • Uniqueness in the approach and solution
    • User Experience
    • Functionality
    • Scalability, Ease of deployment and maintenance
    • Security aspects
  15. Does a specific theme carries more weightage than others?
    No, every theme carries same weightage. Judgement will be based on evaluation criteria mentioned in the rule section.

  16. Does one have to be online and available for the entire duration of the Finathon?
    No, one does not need to be logged in on HackerEarth or be online for the entire duration.

  17. Is it compulsory to use any specific technology and is there any restrictions on using number of pre-built libraries?
    It is not compulsory to use any specific language, technology stack, or libraries. Participants can use any of them to create the web/mobile application.

  18. A fully developed application need to have a solid backend for data storage like SQL, SharePoint etc. Since the event is online, is it accepted to show only the prototype?
    Participants must submit a bare minimum working prototype. If any database like MySQL or PostgresSQL is used, then database dump can be submitted along with the submission.

  19. Where will the Finale take place?
    Finale will be held in Mumbai.

  20. In case of team, do all team members also have to be present during the Finale?
    No, it’s not necessary for each member to be present at the Finale.

  21. Can the solution be demonstrated remotely during the Finale?
    No, the solution can not be demonstrated remotely.

  22. What should the finalists bring to the Finale?
    Working application, a brief presentation (video or ppt), if required and the devices needed to demonstrate how the solution works.

  23. What's the format of the demo portion of the programme?
    Finalists will be given 15 minutes to present their application which will be followed by Q&A.

  24. Who will own the IP of the prototype made by the participants?
    The intellectual property of the application belongs only to the team/individual.

  25. Can the documentation of solution be in a language other than English?
    The Product / Solution may be in English or one of the Indian Languages. The materials presented by Participant (including any videos or materials) must be in English language only

  26. What should I do if I have additional questions/queries?
    A. Bank will respond to all questions/queries posted by participants on Hackerearth’s discussion forum. Participants can use discussion forum to post additional queries.
