ABOUT THE DAISI HACKATHON ROUND 2:

We are looking for individuals or small teams to deploy highly useful “Daisies” (Python serverless functions) in our cloud at https://app.daisi.io. The Daisies created for this Hackathon must belong to one or more of the following categories:

  1. Document AI
  2. New trends in Machine Learning. Interface with GPT-3, Dall-E, or similar
  3. ETL Daisies
  4. Remote sensing Daisies
  5. Science ML Daisies
  6. Robotics and IoT
  7. Crypto, NFTs and Finance

 

Daisi (app.daisi.io) is a scientific Cloud Computing platform running Python serverless functions, named Daisies.

With Daisi you can:

  • create web services, automate tasks, host apps… orders of magnitude easier and faster than traditional cloud platforms.
  • parallelize compute intensive workloads by scaling up instantly to thousands of processes on demand.
  • share your code and discover thousands of ready-to-call functions and apps !

Daisi brings the power of cloud computing into the hands of every developer, scientist, engineer by automatically deploying and creating endpoints for any function of a Python code, which can then be invoked seamlessly from any environment.

Any regular Python code can be turned into a Daisi by simply registering its Github repository in the Daisi platform, with no need to write any specific code.

Themes

Important: Only Daisies that – in the sole assessment of Daisi Technology, Inc. – accurately fit into one of the above categories will be eligible for prizes.

Note: you may submit multiple Daisies for this second round of the Hackathon.  As before, you can “stack” prizes, for example, winning both Judge’s Choice as well as Most API calls.  And because you can submit multiple Daisies, it is possible to win multiple prizes meaning one team could win the full $10,000 second-round prize!

Daisies can either be your own Python code or based on open source Python code or code you have the rights to. (IE: as long as it is open source, it does not have to be your own original code.)

Daisies for Round 2 Must Be In One of the Following Themes:

  1. Document AI
  2. New trends in Machine Learning. Interface with GPT-3, Dall-E, or similar
  3. ETL Daisies
  4. Remote sensing Daisies
  5. Science ML Daisies
  6. Robotics and IoT
  7. Crypto, NFTs and Finance

Note: One of the things that differ in The First Daisi Hackathon vs. most other hackathons is that entrants may submit multiple Daisies during the contest period, and ALL of them can count (i.e., you can have multiple entries)! So you are not limited to only one entry.

ROUND 2 - Document AI

Build and deploy compelling Daisies for Document AI (Intelligent Document Processing) tasks. Tasks may include document digitization, images extraction and classification, tables extraction and classification, metadata extraction, paragraphs reconstruction, classification, and summarization, and information extraction in general.

Build Daisies pipelines for business applications of Document AI.

Other tasks in this category can include leveraging existing Daisies and/or creating new ones and combining them to build systems for web crawling and scraping.

ROUND 2 - New trends in Machine Learning. Interface with GPT-3, Dall-E or similar

Pre-trained transformers and diffusion models like GPT-3, Dall-E, Stable Diffusion etc.. offer incredible potential.

Build and deploy compelling Daisies interfacing with these types of models for a variety of business or science-related tasks. The Daisies should interface with an existing deployment of the model (for instance GPT-3 is hosted by OpenAI). Or a Daisi could be created to deploy a “mini” version of the model (for instance Craiyon)

ROUND 2 - ETL Daisies

Build end-to-end practical Daisies pipelines for business-oriented Extract Transform Load workflows.

ROUND 2 - Remote sensing Daisies

Build compelling Daisies deploying data access, models, and solutions for remote sensing datasets (including satellite images).

ROUND 2 - Science ML Daisies

Build compelling Daisies deploying impactful ML models for science applications (geoscience, astrophysics, 1D/2D/3D physical properties modeling, etc.)

ROUND 2 - Robotics and IoT

Build compelling Daisies deploying impactful solutions for Robotics and/or IoT

ROUND 2 - Crypto, NFTs and Finance

Build compelling Daisies deploying solutions to advance cryptocurrencies adoption, leverage NFTs and/or more broadly finance.

Prizes USD 20,000 in prizes

ROUND 1 prizes are for Daisies submitted on or before Friday, September 9, 2022.

ROUND 2 prizes are for Daisies submitted between September 10 and October 18, 2022

Prizes will STACK: A single entry can win MULTIPLE prize categories. And Participants and Teams can submit MULTIPLE Daisies. Thus it is possible for a single Team/Participant to win the entire $10,000 US prize pool! Good luck!!
