Under the mission of co-develop social solutions and creating social impact in India, we “NEC Corporation India” and “Mitsubishi Corporation India” are collaborating and proceeding with multiple projects together. One of our collaborative projects is a hackathon, and we hereby hold our 2nd joint hackathon. Through our joint hackathon, we would like to find new ideas and solutions which are unique, feasible, and create a social impact for Indian society.

This time, the hackathon theme is a Property Tech. India has the second-largest population in the world, and obviously, it is an economically growing country. Mitsubishi Corporation India is currently developing one real estate project in Chennai with a local partner, and planning to launch the next project too.

With a growing economy, people's lifestyle is changing, and so are living places. However, Indian housing properties are currently almost the same style as the old generation one, meaning not much technology & solutions are introduced to this industry. (And obviously, not much difference in property for middle-class people even though its demand is high)

With this hackathon theme, we would like to target “Middle Class” people, and how we can add value to a property by integrating technology. We would love to develop attractive properties which can make a difference from the existing property by integrating technology and innovative ideas. Let us create an idea, solutions to make our future property attractive to live in!

Regarding IP

Themes

Value addition in Indian Middle Class residential properties

Think what can be the added value for properties, and make middle class’ people have interest to buy properties. We look for technologies, ideas and solutions that can add certain value to residential properties that can make our lives better. With adding value to the residential properties in India, let us make properties which are attractive for people.

[Our target client - Persona]

Middle to Upper Middle Class (Annual household income is between 10-60 Lakhs INR), who live in Tier-1 city (e.g. Chennai, Bangalore etc.) and basically look for apartment buildings or housing complexes.

[Important point to think & understand for this hackathon]

  • Think what can be value addition in India residential properties beyond price per square meter in the vicinity and factors in the distance from landmarks (such as stations, airports, commercial facilities, etc.) etc. ?
  • Problem statement should be clear. When you create an idea of a solution, please firstly think about the existing problem/pain point of Indian residential properties, and what can be solved. We expect you to ideate a problem statement first, then create your own solution.
  • What kind of property has value, and what kind of property would people want to live in?
  • Imagine what kind of value people feel property as the occasion demands? (Value when people buy it, Value when people live there etc.)
  • Integrate technology which can add more value to properties (which can be mobile/web application, IT systems such as AI, IoT etc.)
  • Lastly, for this hackathon, we would like all participants to think about “How we can add value to the properties”, ‘What kind of value will give potential customers attraction to live in’ etc.
