Overview

We've all had to hole ourselves up for most of 2020 and all of 2021. Is that necessarily a bad thing, though? Introducing Hack 2021 - the Fall Edition!

This time around, we've got four categories. Do you think you've got what it takes to make a smooth, suave online portfolio for yourself? Are you really into blockchain? Maybe you've found your niche in the AR/VR world. There's a place for all you DevOps professionals as well!

You've had years to let your ideas brew. Now it's time to release all that pent-up innovation! From young students to experienced gurus, everyone is welcome to participate!

Themes

Blockchain

We are at an exciting phase in the evolution of Blockchain-based solutions. They provide new infrastructure to build the next innovative applications beyond cryptocurrency, thus driving profound, positive changes across businesses, communities, and society. Use the core principles of blockchain to achieve a transparent, decentralized, and trusted solution based on the following themes:

  • Social initiatives: Create apps that will improve the social sphere of society, for example, improving the literacy rate of girl children by automatically generating cash payments to their families when their daughter achieves a 90% attendance rate.
  • D-App: Build compelling apps that can benefit from decentralization and can potentially be scaled to be used by millions of users.
  • Security: The industry needs innovative minds to make blockchain and crypto applications more secure. Can you help make Blockchain safer?
  • Crowdsourcing: Leveraging the power of community and Blockchain, create an app that can be used to:
    • Gather the inputs from multiple contributors
    • Assign a quality score to each input
    • Automatically pay tokens to the contributors based on the quality score
    • Create a crowdsourcing project and setting the rules for awarding tokens

App Development: Your own online portfolio!

Creating a portfolio website is the first step towards getting a potential employer’s attention and scoring a new job. Develop a pseudo portfolio website for yourself to catch a visitor’s attention by taking your online portfolio design up a notch. From hover effects and parallax scrolling to animation and lightboxes, these finishing touches can help bring your website to life. They can also serve as functional tools to draw your visitor’s attention to a specific place or generate interaction.

AR/VR

There are two categories in AR/VR:

  • ECommerce
  • Create a Mobile/Web app with at least 5 products that should show the products in AR/VR. Add facilities to place it anywhere, rotate it, scale it, and the like. You can choose to show any of the following products

    • Furniture
    • Cars
    • Mobile phones

  • Open Innovation
  • We are on the threshold of a compelling, expansive, and imagination-inspiring time. Through AR/VR, you can extend reality and experience by merging the physical and virtual worlds, fundamentally changing how we live, work, and play. Ideate and create a prototype on anything in the domain of AR/VR to help businesses scale.

DevOps

DevOps is a set of practices that combines software development and operations. It’s a methodology that is meant to improve work throughout the software development lifecycle. To help DevOps Engineers, let’s build one of the following ChatOps Bot of your choice:

  • CI/CD bots that enable developers to execute build jobs and report back statistics of the build job
  • Configuration management bots that enable developers to kick off jobs, provision infrastructure, or provision application environments
  • Continuous monitoring bots that enable developers to pull statistics, data lookups, and monitor application health
  • Slack Bots that send the alerts and other notifications into Slack channels
