Overview

Decentraland is a decentralized virtual world powered by the Ethereum blockchain. The finite 3D virtual space is divided into parcels called LAND. Each plot of LAND is permanently owned by a member of the community, giving the owner full control over what they create and display in that location. As players explore the virtual world, the content uploaded to Decentraland is rendered on its corresponding land parcel.

It's a global, two-week online competition to create awesome interactive content that will form part of Decentraland - a virtual world owned by its users.

What can i build?

Whatever your imagination allows! Create all kinds of interactive content, from a multiplayer game or interactive art installation to a virtual shop.

Themes

Decentraland Scene

The objective of the Decentraland Game Jam is to come up with interactive content that will become an integral part of the virtual world.

There is no overall theme. Participants are free to create whatever they want, as long as it is imaginative and interactive. They can build in teams or solo. Some examples of what has been produced in past events can be found here.

There is no need to be fully versed in the theory and mechanics of blockchain or own LAND to be involved, participants need only have a healthy dose of the creative spirit.

Their work will be assessed and prizes awarded by a judging panel comprising Decentraland staff, community members and gaming industry figures.

For their efforts, participants will have the chance to share in 2,500,000 MANA (Decentraland’s cryptocurrency token) and 200 LANDs (virtual plots that house user creations). That’s a total of over $250k USD in prizes.
